Poker League News & Announcements
IMPORTANT NOTICE! 1st August 2010The Poker room will be closed on Thursday 12th August 2010 and Friday 13th August so no poker games on those evenings! Thankyou.
IMPORTANT UPDATE! 11th December 2009As you are aware I am still unable to walk at all which means Malcolm and Matty are having to do most of the work concerning the poker games, To make things run a little smoother please try and arrive in the poker room and register as early as possible! Everyone turning up five minutes before the game is due to start does slow the evening down a lot as you all know! If you DO turn up late or close to the sheduled start time please just register for the game and get to your seat as soon as possible and leave ordering any drinks until the game has started! For the time being (until I am back working in the poker room) the second game on league nights will have blinds of nine (9) minutes, this will hopefully get the second game to finish a little earlier, this could possibly be changed to eight (8) minutes in the future... ThankyouPLEASE NOTE: The later a game starts the shorter the blinds will be!!
IMPORTANT NOTICE:Due to annual holidays the poker room will be closed on the following dates;Saturday 27th June 2009Thursday 2nd July 2009Friday 3rd July 2009

This is due to staffing while we are away. Due to this the final Thursday game in this season will have two games played rather than the normal one. Thankyou for your understanding.16/03/2008IMPORTANT NEWS: Due to yet another virus/trojan being downloaded to a terminal in the poker room ALL internet facilities (excluding Ladbrokes) have been banned for the time being. Everybody knows I take computer security seriously but still people feel the need to visit unsafe sites and email clients. More info to come once I have finished my dectective work
03/02/2008 Can Paul H retain his undefeated title? The next "SUPER CHIP CHALLENGE" date will be announced soon, it will be on a Friday Evening and it will also be the next £100 Freeroll.

15/01/2008 This Friday (18/01/2008) we have our first live Seven Card Stud Tournament. This game will start at 8.00pm. However, for those people who wish to play but were not here on Sunday for the practice it would be best if you could be here by 7.30pm so that we can go through the rules and guidelines before the game starts as the betting process it different to Hold'em. Also to assist new players we will have dealers at each table during the tournament to make sure things run smoothly.
21/12/2007 Because Boxing Day Evening and New Years Eve are ticket only entry in the Bars downstairs would all Poker Members coming to play on those evening please make sure you bring your new plastic membership cards to gain entry just in case Malcolm and I are not about at the door, Thankyou.
04/12/2007 WELL DONE to all the players of our first online Private Tournament! It was the best online poker game I have had so far, very fast and well played by everyone. It was also very good online practice for us. The top three were 1st: Paul, 2nd: Robin and 3rd: Trout. The next game is scheduled for Monday 10th December at 8.00pm $5.00 + $0.5 buyin, 5000 starting chips, 15 minute blinds with NO buy-in or add on. Plus the players that take out hakka_AA , robb271 or trout666 will get a drink on me..... Coz I Can!!!!
30/11/2007 I would like to thank Richard and Ciaran of Ladbrokes for all their help and comments!
29/11/2007 13.45 I have been in direct contact with the PR manager at ladbrokes and have sent a few emails to and fro. Believe me he is just as upset as they did not want this to happen, obviously. he has told me that they will send details of the points today at some point. Hopefully with this info we can all calm down. But I can assure you Ladbrokes have taken this seriously and hopefully take on board whats happened this whole event and prevent it happening again if they hold another ie the abuse etc.
27/11/2007 8.30pm Just one little thing to add to what I have said below:I know I promised you all a chinese banquet if we won the championship, well I feel we did win it so I will stand by the promise and will organise an evening we can all attend which could even be the evening organised by Ladbrokes if we wanted!
27/11/2007 8.00pm WOW REALLY BAD NEWS HERE!!!Yes if you have taken another look at the leaderboards on the Ladbrokes site the Kiln bar have won the league. Ladbrokes telephoned me earlier and explained that there had been a "MISTAKE" in their system. So after being told yesterday that we had won they have taken that away from us. However, they have informed me that as it was so close and because of the mistake they will be holding the poker evening here as well in the new year so I guess thats some sort of bonus even though what they have done is quite unprofessional. All i can do is appologise for this and I feel really let down especially after us all having to put up with aggressive and foul verbal abuse from certain players over the last few weeks and I would like to thank-you all for not getting pulled into their ranting.
14/11/2007VERY IMPORTANT AND URGENT MESSAGE FOR OUR ONLINE POKER PLAYERS!!IT APPEARS LADBROKES ARE HAVING A PROBLEM WITH DATABASE AND SERVERS, A LOT OF OUR PLAYERS ARE UNABLE TO LOG INTO NEXT SUNDAY'S GAME. A MESSAGE SAYING "INVITE ONLY" COMES UP WHEN YOU TRY TO BUY INTO THE TOURNAMENT. PLEASE TRY AND BUY IN AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU CANNOT LOG IN PLEASE EMAIL LADBROKES AT care@ladbrokespoker.com AND TELL THEM THE PROBLEM AND ALSO INCLUDE YOUR USERNAME, ALIAS AND POSSIBLY YOUR ADDRESS AND THEY WILL SORT THE PROBLEM OUT VERY QUICKLY LIKE THEY HAVE DONE FOR US ALREADY!!!
08/11/2007Sorry for delay in posting updates but I have been upgrading the main computer.Well played everyone last Sunday, we all did very well and every point counts so a pat on the back for everyone :o)Lastly just a reminder for game play here at the Grenny: During a hand the dealer is the only person that should be touching the chips in play unless he/she asks for help and NO chips should be moved/touched or divided until the current round of betting has been completed. Remembering this will avoid confusion and help prevent mistakes.
02/11/2007I would like to change the Grenadier Amateur Poker League Logo and get rid of the "amateur" bit and possibly go with "Grenadier Poker Club" Therefore I would like our creative members to design some potential logo's and then let all the members vote for their favorite. Details below. The logo's can be submitted by email or in person, formats can be in jpeg, bitmap, tiff and photoshop or on paper for the really tallented. Please remember that the logo will have to be reduced in size for our league table print outs which currently is 234 x 136 pixals.Closing Date for entries is Saturday November 17th 2007 voting to take place here at the Grenny on Thursday 22nd Nov and Saturday 24th Nov.
30/10/2007FANTASTIC NEWS!!The Grenadier is at the top of the Ladbrokes Pub Poker Leaderboard!!Well done everyone for the effort and great play so far, lets try and keep it up :o)Follow link to be taken to the leaderboard pagehttp://poker.ladbrokes.com/pub-leaderboardsandThe Publican
Also, once you have registered on the Ladbrokes site they have great Freeroll Tournaments (Free to enter!) that have thousands of players which is great practice and well worth having a go...
23/09/2007When the new season starts in October the Black (10) and Red (20) chips will be back in play meaning we will start on 10/20 blinds once again and have 3440 starting chip stack. In the Full Member cash game nights I will still experiment with various blinds, chip stacks and ante's.Guests: If a member would like to bring a guest into Roma's Bar they may sign them in according to the membership rules but remember a signed in guest cannot take part in the gaming. However, if a member has a friend that is thinking of joining the club they can on "league nights" gain a "one off" temporary nights membership when signed in by a member at a cost of £1.50 which will enable them to play, if that player then successfully applies for membership within 7 days the £1.50 already paid will be deducted from their subs. With regards to membership, when the new season gets underway and we know how many members are playing on what nights (League) we will then be able to set some sort of membership limit as we have a maximum of thirty eight (at a push) seats available.
14/09/2007Raising Bets.. Six months ago we changed the rules regarding raising bets, ie we can now raise anything above the previous bet, this was mainly introduced to make things easier when people go All in etc. However, we changed this rule on the condition that no-one should raise by silly low amounts and especially by re-raising by low amounts, this is because it wastes precious time as the blinds are short. Please play sensible and think of other players by not wasting time.
Also can I remind certain players of rule 43. " During a hand players must refrain from discussing possible hands available/being played as this can put off players involved with the hand, this also includes dealers and especially players that have folded their hands."
02/09/2007Please remember that due to new membership numbers, database and time I will not be able to process membership forms on game nights. Please make sure you get your forms in early this includes League Memberships starting in October.
20/08/2007The New memberships and how they will be introduced:
Full Membership: The Full Memberships will be introduced from 1st September 2007. However, as the current Leagues do not end until the end of September and the Autumn Leagues starting in October and finishing at the end of January this means the first season of full membership will be five months long so giving everyone a free month. Therefore, members will be able to partake in gaming from September 1st on nights other than League Nights. Membership forms are available now via download or collection from here.
League Membership: The League Memberships will start on October 1st 2007. There will be no gaming for small stakes until then.
Social Membership: Social Memberships start from 1st September 2007 and carry the free month as per Full Membership
Any questions please contact me :o)
18/08/2007Over the last 24 hours my email in box has recieved quite a few emails of complaint and concern, I have also had several people come in to see me: it appears that quite a few players were upset with the way things were going on Thursday Night (I was not the only one it seems) Therefore, I must remind all players that in Roma's Bar we expect everybody to behave with respect, manners and etiquette. loud and poor manners will not be tollerated and table etiquette must be observed at all times this includes betting actions, amounts and the way hands are played. Putting in what I call "stupid" amounts to proove points to friends etc normally upsets other players game play and some players even busted out on Thursday just to get away. Please when in Roma's Bar act accordingly! I will not be playing next Thursday I will be concentrating on game play and monitoring tables etc. I would like to remind players that big changes are happening from September 1st 2007 and the rules and guidelines have been rewritten and will be enforced.
15/07/2007 Blinds and Break changes:
Due to late finishes etc the following changes are needed:On Thursday's the 300 - 600 blind will be removed and the chip up break time reduced to 10 minutesOn Saturday's the blinds will be reduced to 13 minutes & the chip up break will be reduced to 10 minutes
07/07/2007 Table and Game Etiquette:
Please remember if you are not playing in the game (busted out) and you wish to watch the games being played you MUST stand at least one metre away from the tables and players, I have asked on many occasions but this rule is being ignored by some and I even witnessed a busted out player last night moving and touching chips in play! I and others have also seen busted out players talking and whispering to players still in play. All of the above must stop immediately! I spend a lot of time and effort creating the best poker environment possible. I try and supply the best tables, chips, cards and staff and take pride in how we can produce such a good standard of poker and as close to professional standard as we can. Poor etiquette as mentioned above is not allowed in tournament play around the world and I dont really think we should allow it here. Please try and abide by the rules as I dont really want to start bringing in penalty rules.
I would also like to remind players about the signing in for Tournaments and special games. As I have said many times future events are displayed on the notice board and have a sign in section, these sign in sheets have to be filled in by the monday before the event as I have to go and get prizes etc before the actual game and it makes it so much easier on the night to get the game started on time.
Changes to signing in and game starting times:
What with the no smoking law coming in and the resulting changes to the break times in games we are going to have to start the games on time now so we can try and prevent the late finishes we have been having recently, therefore the following changes have been made to the sign in times and game start times:
1. All players must now be signed in by 7.25pm on both Thursday and Saturday evenings, if you are running late and wish to play in the first game you must call or text the poker phone (07805 349868) before 7.25pm so that we may get you signed in and allocated a seat. The other players on your table will put your blinds in until you arrive, however this will only carry on for a maximum of thirty minutes after this time your remaining chips will be removed from the table and you will be busted out with a nil score as other players may have busted out by this time and it would be deemed unfair for the late player to gain more points without being there.
The only exception to this new signing in procedure applies to our "out of town" players, Terry, Alan W, Boris & Mark W. These players will automatically be signed in and will only have to contact us before 7.25pm if they are NOT playing. If you are not mentioned here and live out of Hailsham please contact me to be placed on this list.
This procedure also applies to Tournament Nights, however if the game is due to start at the later time of 8.00pm the players must be signed in by 7.55pm.
Therefore with this new system in place the games will now start promptly, The seating chart will be displayed five minutes before start time and once the chart has been displayed no further sign in's can take place.
Other points regarding game starts:
Once the seating chart has been displayed please make your way to your seat as quickly as possible. Please keep the noise down in case any quick announcements have to be made. Please allocate a player to put in any blinds for late players.
Other important points regarding game play that I feel need to be mentioned again:
PLEASE try and keep the language down, I know we all swear from time to time and thats fine but try not to use bad language as "punctuation"
DO NOT throw your chips and cards into the playing area, we have seen a few mistakes lately and these have been caused by poor etiquette.
If you have been busted out of the game and still wish to watch gameplay (after you have signed out!) please stay at least 1metre away from the players remaining.
