Private Members Bar

As from 1st september 2007 Roma's Bar, the home of the Grenadier Amateur Poker League will become a Private Members Bar. This will allow us to easily follow the new legislation brought in with the Gambling Act 2005 which comes into force on the 1st september 2007.

The New Gambling Act allows us to introduce gamimg in Roma's bar for small stakes but with this new legislation comes with of course restrictions, terms and conditions and a Code of Cunduct we have to follow.

Therefore it has been decided we must show responsibility as far as Gambling and Gaming is concerned and as most people know the only way I like to do things is properly right from the start. With this in mind The Grenadier Amateur Poker League Private Members Bar has been created. This membership scheme will allow us to closely monitor the gaming and membership so that no mistakes can be made and the new law is followed correctly.

Some players (if any) may wonder why the new scheme including Rules and Guidelines have been introduced and will be followed. Well the answer is that at the end of the day it's my licence which is allowing the change of poker here at the Grenadier and I will protect my licence vigorously and I dont want it compromised in any way.

With this new membership scheme we have introduced a subscription charge, this is solely for the purposes of repairs and renewals involved in Roma's Bar. We have started with a high standard of equipment and facilities and we intend on improving these constantly. The subscriptions will be introduced on a non profit basis.

Each player expects different things from their poker and it is due to this we have decided to try and cater for everyone and introduce diffrerent types of membership.

Below is a basic outline to membership types, for full details on membership types, restrictions and guidelines please download the zip file containing all the rules, guidelines and new membership application form by either clicking the download image at the bottom of this page or via the dropdown menu above (Under title Roma's) When the download box appears click save and choose where you want to download the file to.

All existing members who want to join the new scheme will have to fill in a new membership form which you can print out from the download or they are now available from us here at the Grenadier. please be aware with this new membership your existing membership number might change, especially if you have a higher number. Existing members will be given priority over membership due to the limited number of seats.

Finally, Due to one important factor "time" if you wish to become a member please submit applications at least 24 hours before you wish to play. Applications cannot be processed on game nights.

Full Membership 25+: Allows full access to Roma's Bar and Gaming including the Thursday and Saturday League Nights.

League Membership 21+: Allows access to Roma's Bar on Thursday and Saturday League Nights.

Social membership 25+: Allows full access to Roma's Bar, No gaming permitted.
